ROLE: Shift Manager

HOURS: 42 hours per week, Monday - Friday

RENUMERATION: Competitive Salary

LOCATION: Birchwood Way, Somercotes

Production Shift Managers are responsible for leading and managing Team Leaders, supporting the site’s business plan and ensuring its implementation in their facility. They oversee production performance to meet or exceed targets for safety, cost, quality, delivery, equipment, and people.

 

They develop a high-performing production team focused on delivery and continuous improvement through effective management. They ensure manpower is efficiently utilized to meet targets, directing activities through Team Leaders to meet both internal and external customer requirements in line with targets, budgets, and plans. They also exemplify the Company’s values of Gritty, Proud, Decent, and Agile.

 

WHAT OUR SHIFT MANAGERS DO:

  • Lead and motivate the team through role modelling the Company Values.
  • Ensure the team is fully trained and confident in fulfilling their role.
  • Ensuring Team Leaders are complying with all mandatory training and development for themselves and their operators.
  • Completion of all people processes in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Build, develop, engage and manage efficient and effective teams.
  • Promote and manage change across the shift teams when required.
  • People processes and procedure are completed consistently according to Company policy, including but not limited to Right to Work Checks, Absence Reviews, investigations and disciplinaries. PDTRs are completed on time and in full.
  • Training needs are identified and robust training is delivered or arranged, skills matrix is updated weekly.
  • Talent is identified for future development.
  • Ensure conformance to plan (CTP) and plan achievement (PA) targets are achieved.
  • Adherence to manufacturing budgets and all operational policies, processes and SOP’s.
  • Compliance of communications through toolbox talks and team huddles.
  • Communication, achievement and continuous improvement of all business area KPI’s during the shift, ensuring that all team leaders have clearly defined objectives.
  • Utilising resource through the labour model and making corrective measures where required adhering to budgetary boundaries.
  • investigates all reported SHE incidents and implements relevant containment, corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Following reporting and escalation of incidents in line with SHE requirements.
  • Ensure that first-off samples are produced, checked and signed off according to the quality standard.
  • Plan, review and action taken to ensure agreed production targets/budgets are achieved and/or exceeded.
  • Quality standards are strictly adhered to; plans are in place to ensure waste/scrap is within target/budget.
  • Control use of production material and consumables
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of operational checks and reports and accurately maintain production records and documentation.
  • Have overall control and review of resources, SOPs, equipment, and performance.

WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR SHIFT MANAGERS: 

  • Excellent communication, with the ability to engage Team Leaders and Operatives
  • Ability to convey messages and expectations, for example, expected KPIs and behaviours
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a team
  • Budgetary and resource planning experience
  • Ability to deliver business change and continuous process improvements
  • Confident to produce accurate KPI updates and reports, analyse non-compliance reports and implement effective measures to prevent future non-compliance
  • Robust understanding of health and safety principles and commitment to delivering high standards of health and safety
  • Role model who can operate with a safety first mindset
